About Me
Hi there! Thanks for vising my little corner of the internet. My name is Seona and I am a stationery nerd. I’ve loved stationery since I was a girl! That week before and after the new school year was my absolute favourite time. Getting the supplies list, figuring out what I needed to buy, going to the stationery store and spending hours among the pens and pencils and books and accessories. It smelled of paper and dust and wood and ink! When I was a teenager, I would sew my own pencil cases out of cool patterned fabric and I always covered my school books in fun prints or pages taken out of magazines, or collages of posters of my favourite bands!
It’s a little harder to be a stationery nerd in the 21st century with everything going digital and less focus on physical books and tools, but a few years ago I decided that if I didn’t write it down, I would forget it, and so I purchased a planner – the first one I’ve had in years – and got started! I still forget stuff but at least now the bills are paid 99% of the time. And I get to have a really pretty book! I get to have many, really pretty books 😀
My Background
I have been making art for as long as I can remember. My earliest memory is making little clay elephants and leather block print carving with my mother. I studied art as a subject all through school and dreamed of going to university to study fine art. Life had other plans for me however, and I entered the world of Tech Support and IT. Through my working career, I drew. I drew portraits with graphite and earned myself some tidy pocket money making portraits for my colleagues. I drew fantasy art and wildlife to brighten up my rather drab office environment. In 2008 I found myself at a crossroads in my life and made the terrifying decision to quit my dayjob and pursue a career as a self employed commercial artist.
About my Art
These days I make art for a living. I still struggle a little with calling myself an artist so I usually describe myself as an entrepreneur. For the last 15 years I have been making 3d and digital art, running a busy online business, and dreaming of opening my own stationery brand where I make and sell cute things for other people’s planners! In 2020, I acquired a snap maker machine, and a Silhouette Cameo and decided to just do it! And here we are. Noir Kitty Studio. Starting small with some cute hand drawn planner and die-cut sticker sets with plans to expand into art prints, notebooks, leather journal covers, pens and accessories and the sky’s the limit!
